Happy Father's Day

It has been a few weeks since I returned home from the hospital and it feels like I may be slowly improving. Unfortunately I had caught another viral infection (most likely in the hospital) that caused fevers and resulted in liver and chest pain for about a 8 day period. Once the fever subsided the pain became more manageable. The epidural isn't providing the relief that I had hoped for. Although the pain near my sternum is now controlled, I have pain along my spine that makes walking more than a few minutes incredible hard. My doctors are adjusting my epidural medication and dosage to give me more relief. Please pray that they will find a combination for me that is effective. Thankfully my headaches have subsided and I haven't noticed any pressure above my left eye (where my other brain tumor is located). The next MRI is scheduled after the July 4th holiday.

I've had a great Father's Day and hope all the other dads out there had the same. Deb and the kids surprised me with a 14 week old kitten who spent most of the day cuddling with me on the couch.

My mom gave me the same cane that Dr. House uses on the popular Fox show, to make walking (in style!) a bit easier.

It was also great to have my brothers here on Father's Day. Deb and I had a number of house projects that needed to be done and they graciously offered to do them for us.

Thankful for every day,
Nate

Happy Father's Day Nate and love to Deb and the children.
You were on my mind as I opened up my computer this evening. I love the kitten and being the animal lover I am I know he or she will bring you alot of comfort. I also love the cane your Mom gave you. Leave it to your Mom!!! We also watch "House" and what a character he plays. Beware of the cane!! I continue to hold you in all my prayers and I thank God for just knowing you and your family. You are so special Nate. God Bless you. Love Emily Klein

I check your blog every day, and am releived when there is no news. I do hope that they will get the meds adjusted so that you can walk more comfortably. I do like the cane, I use one that has 4 feet on it, makes for it not falling over so much and making a terrible clatter. Your kitten is really cute. hope Deb and the kids are doing great. Sherrel L. Love the cane! I'm sure you will be able to get some speed out of that baby with the flames and all! LOL! I'm glad to hear you had a nice Father's Day, and that your brothers were able to help you and your family out around the house. That has got to be a big relief. You and your family continue to be in my prayers.

Dear Nate and Deb,

Thanks for the update. We were so glad that you had a good Father's Day. Then we got a call Wednesday night that you were back in the hospital to deal with pain. We are so sorry you have to deal with all that again. We do hope and pray that the doctor's will find something that is more permanent that will help you at home. We love you so much, Nate, and pray for you and Deb all the time.

Love, Jim and Marge

Happy Belated Father's Day! All I can say is that cane is STYLING! You da man! Our prayers are still with you, in fact allow me to pray for you now..."Lord, you know Nate's situatiom here, please grant him and his family the strength to deal these hard times. We know You love him - we may question Your ways - but we know that Your plan is greater than any we could imagine. I pray that love from his friends, family and YOU, will help him through this and only make him stronger. May his incredible witness be a light to others who may be going through similar situations and even to those who have no idea what it may be like. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen." Hang in there man!!!

Although we sometimes assume that no news is good news, it's good to hear from you so that we know how to pray for you. We are frustrated and sad to hear that your pain has not been resolved. We hope that your most recent hospital visit will do the trick to helping you be more comfortable. We think of you, Deb and the kids every day and wish we could just put our arms around you. Happy belated Father's day and glad you have a new little friend to keep you company.
With love,
Ben and Nancy
